Learning how to play with a bass player is one of the most important lessons for any drummer interested in playing in a band. The drummer/bass player relationship has to be locked down tight to build anything close to a successful groove for a song. I recently came across a video that inspired this post from drumlessons.com. This was a live video lesson recorded with Jerry Adolphe on drums with one of his long time bass player friends. It’s a pretty long video (over an hour) but if you have the time to watch the whole thing I definitely encourage you to do it. There’s some great insight in the video from two successful session musicians about the relationship between drummers and bass players. I hope you enjoy it!
Drumlessons.com produced a live video lesson recently about the music relationship between drummers and bass players. If you have the time to watch the whole thing, it’s going to reveal a lot about playing with a bass player. Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SWRpFD0bW0.
The drummer/bass player music relationship is probably the most important relationship in any band. It’s definitive for building a successful groove for a song. I hope you learned something and enjoyed the video!
Thanks,
