Probably one of the most energetic, entertaining, and hardest-hitting drummers on the scene today is Chad Smith. Smith is the drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who have had worldwide success, making Chad one of the most well-known drummers in the industry. Fortunately, he’s also got some serious chops. I found two videos that highlight those abilities and show two very different styles of music. The first is from the 2008 Buddy Rich Tribute performance in which Chad played “Birdland” with the Buddy Rich Orchestra and then in the second video, Chad plays along with a Red Hot Chili Peppers track. Both are great performances and offer some of Chad’s versatility.
Chad Smith was selected as one of the drummers to perform at the Buddy Rich Tribute performance in 2008. Catch his performance of “Birdland” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL2Ultjg18M&feature=player_embedded.
Next, Chad performed at a drum workshop to a Red Hot Chili Peppers track called, “Charlie.” This video provides a fly-on-the-wall view of Chad playing the way he knows best. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuibdktNlWQ.
Chad Smith is a great drummer that has gained quite the international reputation. There is plenty more to see featuring Chad Smith so check out as much as you want.
Thanks,
Chris

Wow, that guy can drum! Chad has always been a focal point of the chili peppers–and for good reason. Thanks, Chris.
