Drum Corps International Champions: Blue Devils Drumline

Here at Play Drums By Ear, it’s all about drumming.  And there are a lot of different types of drumming.  A big part of my experience in school bands was drumline.  My chops got a major overhaul playing on the line since I had to match note for note what the rest of the line was playing.  This style differs quite a bit from drum set playing, but the idea is actually similar.  Drumline centers around stick technique as it has to look uniform across the line, but the same rudiments learned in drumline can be applied to the drum set.  In fact, I encourage that sort of behavior!  I want to share a couple of videos featuring the 2012 Drum Corps International champions, The Blue Devils, and their all star drumline.  I hope you enjoy the videos as much as I did!

The Blues Devils took home the whole championship in 2012 and it was well deserved.  I hope you enjoyed the drum feature and getting a glimpse at an entirely different world of drumming.
