Performances Featuring Working Drummer, Hubert “H-Bomb” Crawford

Hubert "H-Bomb" Crawford is a great example of a working drummer, playing drums for a living.

There are a lot of drummers in the headlines on drum magazines all over the world, but what about all the guys that make a living playing the drums without the spotlight.  I’m talking about working drummers that get hired because they can play the money beat, play a solo when called upon, and deliver an energetic show guaranteed to put smiles on peoples’ faces.  Hubert “H-Bomb” Crawford is a great example, in my opinion, of a guy who makes a living playing the drums but doesn’t hog the spotlight from whatever band that hires him.  Truly a professional working drummer.  I thought I would take a minute and share a few videos from Crawford’s drumming career, highlighting performances with Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad and blues/rock guitarist Eric Gales.  I hope you enjoy the videos as much as I did!

Currently, Hubert Crawford is on tour with former guitarist and singer for the band, “Grand Funk Railroad.”  I hear that Crawford earned is nickname, “H-Bomb,” from his hard-driving and loud drumming.  Check out this performance of “I’m Your Captain/Closer To Home,” at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk3d4ZbWMpc&feature=related.

The next video comes from an outdoor performance with blues/rock guitarist, Eric Gales.  Crawford does a little drum solo, encouraging crowd participation, and I guarantee you it’s pretty entertaining.  Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoUmIw61hI8.

Lastly, let’s rewind to a time with the Eric Gales Band early in Crawford’s drumming career.  Crawford is seen here performing with the Gales brothers on a Canadian TV show at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D21ShGlkYsA.

Hubert Crawford is a great example of a drummer that makes a living playing music he enjoys to listen to and play.  If you’re interested in playing drums for a living, I encourage you to check out more information about Hubert Crawford and follow his career.  It makes a difference when you can perform with groups you enjoy.

Thanks,

Chris
