Perfecting The Money Beat With Max Weinberg

Max Weinberg has made quite a name for himself as the drummer for Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band as well as leader of Conan O’Brien’s Late Night show band, the Max Weinberg 7.  Max also has a pretty impressive wrap sheet drumming for many other famous musicians as well.  As far as style is concerned, Max seems to be entrenched in the Buddy Rich school of jazz bug band drumming, but has had most of his success providing the strong back beat for the E Street Band.  This is why I think he has perfected the “money beat.”  He understands the role the drummer has in a rock band and enjoys playing it powerfully.  I collected two live performance videos from Max Weinberg that are guaranteed to entertain!

First, we go way back in time to see Max Weinberg sit in with the Ventures to play their classic hit song, “Wipeout.”  Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjiOtouyBOg.

Next, you get to see Max Weinberg in action with Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band.  Check out this live version of one of Max’s favorite songs, “Ramrod,” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysW2RV0jU2U.

I hope you enjoyed this feature on drummer and band leader, Max Weinberg.  Max is still playing out with his new big band so look for him at a town near you.

Thanks,

Chris
