New Orleans Groove Drummer Terence Higgins

Terence Higgins is just one of the stellar musicians to have come out of New Orleans.

So much of the music to come out of New Orleans has one thing in common: it always grooves. And the New Orleans drummer Terence Higgins, groove is first and foremost in anything he seems to touch. Higgins is known mostly as the drummer of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band but has played with many top artists. I put together a few videos that feature Higgins’ drumming in a variety of settings that I hope you’ll really enjoy. I start off with some live footage from a show with Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen (another New Orleans based group), then there’s a solo video for a Pearl showcase, and finally a demo video featuring the Pearl Gospel Pocket Pack. I hope you dig all the videos as much as I did!

Terence Higgins sat in with another popular New Orleans group called Jon Cleary and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen. This live footage features his performance and the famous Poc A Way groove. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7i0Y4NSqEhY.

Next, the Pure Pearl Extravaganza featured Terence Higgins as one of its soloists. I couldn’t keep from laughing at all the big monster drum sets behind him while he teared it up on the small kit. See what I’m talking about at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSDsM8MSmWY.

Lastly, Terence produced some demo videos for Pearl products like the Gospel Pocket Pack. Check out some of the different accessories you can put on your kit for new ideas to incorporate into your own drum grooves. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iPxbNfjjq8.

I hope you enjoyed hearing from the killer New Orleans drummer, Terence Higgins. He’s got his own project called Swampgrease filled with some stellar musicians that are all bringing New Orleans music back to the people. Check it out when you get a chance. There’s more coming your way at Play Drums By Ear so stay tuned.

Thanks,

Chris
