So what do you do when you have to put together a soundtrack for the great superhero ever created??? Only one thing of course… put 12 of the best drummers in the industry together in one recording studio and let ’em rip!! Whether or not you’ve seen the recent Superman movie, Man of Steel, you can appreciate the video I’m going to share with you today. When Hans Zimmer, one of the leading film composers today, wanted to record drums for the movie track, he wanted to literally surround himself and the audience with them. So he called in twelve of the best studio drummers in the industry, from a variety of different music styles and backgrounds, and collected some pretty great drum tracks. I enjoyed watching this video for a few different reasons… one, to catch a glimpse of recording for a movie, two, all the different names coming together, and three… DRUMS!!!!!
Catch years of collective drum talent in the same room, with Hans Zimmer’s unusual recording request. What I would have given to be a part of this session… https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QTOMIyynBPE.
There were some pretty heavy names in that video, and a whole lot of talent. Stay tuned to hear more from them and some of the other great industry names at Play Drums By Ear.
Later gator,
Chris
